It was quite verbose, and not as relevant to inner city Philly, but some good thoughts here sometimes the celebration is small and private For example, there are times when a friend finally does something seemingly insignificant, such as move away from another disruptive child to focus on his own work At first glance, it appears as if nothing truly spectacular has occurred But if this is the first time that this friend has taken responsibility for his own learning and made the smart choice to fi [...]
I picked this book up because I follow the author s blog a bit on facebook, and when she announced the book would be a free download on e readers, I decided it was time to see what reading on the iPhone looked like Coming from a school pysch, I suppose I expected pysch counselor related storieswhich isn t what I got They were mostly stories from classroom teachers most of whom I relate to a bit but some stories I felt were a terrific waste of time and I wasn t able to answer the question from t [...]
Some really nice stories, and a few point over which I will think but most of the entries were kind of touchy feely, than insightful Some of the narrators also have a weird point of veiw opinion about students urban students that is assumed to be shared by the reader, and at least in my case it was not
This is a collection of stories written by different teachers school psychologists about teaching experiences that opened their eyes on their profession Some learn to teach better, others realize they are learning something profound from their students I would categorize this book as inspirational literature for teachers I am glad I picked it up It s a feel good book.
Each chapter is written by a different teacher, school psychologist, special education specialist, etc telling a personal story of a teachable moment they experienced with a student Much of the book is devoted to stories of students with behavior and learning issues It s encouraging and gives some good ideas.
This was a very feel good book about teaching Didn t give a ton of advice, but the stories will really resonate with you if you re in teaching or childcare or parenting probably Overall, I liked it and it was a really quick read.
This was a free kindle download There are some very nice stories in here about special kids and the teachers who take the time to understand them and work with them one on one as the individuals that they are.
Nice little book of anecdotes by teachers for teachers The stories are realistic, and the writers give glimpses in the all too imperfect management of a typical classroom The focus on special needs students is helpful and insightful.
Cute collection of stories, a great read before the start of the new school year.
A quick and wonderful read for anyone who loves children particularly educators or future educators like me All of these short stories warmed my heart.
I was an author, so of course, I enjoyed reading it
